The foundation was designed taking into account the soil characteristics, the structural loads of the frame, and the local climatic conditions. A system of isolated reinforced concrete footings, connected by tie beams, was chosen, as this system offers excellent point load capacity for independent structures such as columns.
Following the soil study, the optimal depth for excavating the footings was determined. The excavations were carried out manually at the column locations, with generous dimensions (for example, 1.2 m x 1.2 m x 1.0 m deep), which were then reinforced with rebar according to the structural design.
Before pouring the concrete, a lean concrete layer (f'c=100 kg/cm²) was placed, followed by the installation of the main reinforcement, according to the plans. Structural concrete (f'c=210 kg/cm²) was used, poured with concrete mixer trucks and mechanically vibrated to eliminate voids. Once the footings had set, the tie beams were constructed to distribute the loads and prevent differential settlement. These beams were also reinforced and cast in place. Above the foundation, the column pedestals or starters were erected, serving as a transition between the foundation and the visible structure of the portal frame.

The process included proper curing of the concrete using moist blankets and constant watering for several days, ensuring optimal curing conditions. Once the foundation was complete, work continued on the vertical structure of the portal frame.
