Terreno Terramar

Prior to any structural work, a thorough leveling and site preparation process was necessary. The area designated for the portico and its access points initially presented natural slopes, wild vegetation, loose stones, and remnants of previous construction. To prepare the ground and ensure a stable foundation, an earthmoving plan using heavy machinery was implemented.

First, the site was cleared, removing weeds, trees, large rocks, and debris. This work was carried out with front-end loaders and backhoes. Subsequently, a grader was used to provide preliminary leveling of the area, removing uneven surface layers of soil and redistributing them where necessary.
The next step was the clearing and cutting of the land, in which layers of topsoil unsuitable for the foundation were removed. This stage was supported by dump trucks that transported the excess material off-site. Once the design elevation was reached, the area was filled with selected material (gravel or compacted soil) in successive layers, which were compacted using heavy vibratory rollers and sheepsfoot compactors.
Compaction control was performed through laboratory tests (Proctor compaction tests and in-situ density tests), ensuring that the soil reached the appropriate strength before the foundation was poured. Finally, a fine leveling was carried out using a motor grader, and the necessary slopes were prepared for proper stormwater drainage.
